Dear Neighbors and Supporters of ABC, For twenty-eight years, A Better Chance in Darien has had a substantial impact on the lives of over 40 talented young women of color from inner cities who have attended and graduated from Darien High School. A great number of them have gone on to highly competitive colleges and now enjoy successful careers. Our mission, our dreams, and our success are all made possible by the support we receive from our own community. With an annual budget of approximately $120,000, A Better Chance in Darien depends on recognition by our friends and community of the important role the organization plays in our town. As we receive no funding from our national parent organization or from the government this is of particular significance. Those of us who know and have shared our lives with ABC students understand the responsibility we have to provide them with a top- notch educational experience, just as we would our own children. But we also recognize the enrichment they bring to us with their daily presence and active involvement in the community. This year, as in every other, we look to our community for much needed financial support. As you carefully consider which organizations you choose to help, we sincerely hope you, too, will understand the special place A Better Chance has in the Darien community.
